Where grades 6-8 do magical things with technology, engineering, and art.
We will start by exploring the computer as a tool and becoming familiar with its power beyond a screen to play games and watch movies.
Software Applications We'll Explore
- All things Google, like Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
- Autodesk SketchBook--free software students will use as a digital sketchbook.
- Google SketchUp, which is 3D, CAD-like drawing freeware.
- And software we don't yet even know we want to learn!
Using these and other tools we will explore mechanisms, machinery, electronics, robotics and more. While the students will certainly lear to use their computers as a tool, they will bring that knowledge into the real world through projects, like conceiving of, designing, and building a paper gizmo.
And then we'll really start having some fun with engineering!
